Saint John's Eve - Happy São João!
Saint John's Eve starts today, 23 June, at sunset. It is the eve of the celebration before the Feast Day of Saint John the Baptist. John was born six months before Jesus, so the feast of John the Baptist was fixed on 24 June, six months before Christmas.
The Feast of Saint John closely coincides with the June solstice, also known as Midsummer in the Northern Hemisphere. The Christian holy day is fixed on 24 June; but in most countries festivities are mostly held the night before, on Saint John's Eve. This holiday is celebrated in many places.
Here in Brazil, we have a whole lot of traditions related to Saint John's Eve, which include food, music, dancing, and artistic representation. How do you celebrate Saint John's Eve? Please, let us know in the comments below.
Happy São João, everybody! 🌽🌽💃🕺🔥🎉
